How Apple deals on Amazon actually work

Apple rarely discounts its own products on its own site, so Amazon is usually where price drops show up first. But "Apple deal" can mean very different things, and not all of them are good:

It's also worth knowing that Apple has run its own shopping events around Black Friday in past years, which are separate from Amazon's prices. Amazon and other retailers may or may not match them, so compare before you buy.

The 4-step check before you buy any Apple product

  1. Confirm the exact model, chip, storage and colour. Apple's product names are close to each other and the cheap-looking listing may be a different configuration.
  2. Check who sells and ships it. Prefer Amazon or Apple-authorised sellers. Be cautious of third-party sellers on high-value items.
  3. Open the price history. Compare today's price with the lowest of the past 90 days or longer. The Zroppix extension shows this on the Amazon page.
  4. Check the return window and condition. New should mean new. If the listing says Renewed or Used, read our guide to Warehouse, Outlet and Renewed first.

AirPods and Beats

Audio is where Apple discounts most often. Check the version carefully, because AirPods names are similar.

AirPods Pro 3Check first

Apple's noise-cancelling earbuds, popular with iPhone owners and a frequent gift.

Check before buying: They work with Android, but some features need Apple devices. Confirm the exact model and case type.

AirPods 4Check first

The standard AirPods line, in versions with and without active noise cancellation.

Check before buying: Check which version you're buying, as the noise-cancelling and standard models differ.

AirPods Max 2Check first

Apple's over-ear headphones for people who want the premium option.

Check before buying: Confirm the generation and colour, and the return window, as fit and sound are personal.

Beats Solo 4Check first

Apple-owned Beats on-ear headphones that also work well with Android.

Check before buying: Check the colour and whether the on-ear fit suits you.

Apple Watch and AirTag

Apple Watches need an iPhone. Case size and band are the usual sources of confusion.

Apple Watch Series 11Check first

The main Apple Watch for health, fitness, payments and notifications.

Check before buying: iPhone only. Check the case size, GPS vs cellular and the band.

Apple Watch SECheck first

The lower-cost Apple Watch with the core features.

Check before buying: iPhone only. Confirm which generation you're buying and the case size.

Apple Watch Ultra 2Check first

A larger, tougher watch aimed at outdoor and endurance use.

Check before buying: Check the band and the generation, as Ultra models vary.

AirTagHard to get wrong

A small tracker for keys, bags and luggage.

Check before buying: Works with iPhones. Decide between a single pack and a multipack.

iPad and Apple Pencil

iPads have the widest gap between models, so decide on what you need before you decide on the price. Pencil compatibility varies by iPad model.

iPad (11th gen)Check first

The standard iPad, a solid choice for reading, streaming and students.

Check before buying: Check the storage tier and Wi-Fi vs cellular.

iPad Air (M4)Check first

A step up with a more powerful chip and a better screen for creative and work use.

Check before buying: Check the screen size and storage, and whether you need the Apple Pencil support.

iPad miniCheck first

A compact tablet for reading, notes and travel.

Check before buying: Check the storage and whether the small screen suits you.

iPad Pro (M5)Check first

Apple's top iPad for pro creative and work uses.

Check before buying: Check whether you need this over an iPad Air, and the storage, since the gap in price can be large.

Apple Pencil ProCheck first

The stylus for compatible iPads, popular with students and artists.

Check before buying: Check that your iPad model supports this Pencil.

Mac, MacBook and Apple TV

Macs are the most expensive purchase here, and memory and storage can't be upgraded later. Pick the configuration first, then look for a fair price.

MacBook Air (M5)Check first

Apple's mainstream laptop for school, work and everyday use.

Check before buying: Check the screen size, memory and storage, which are hard to upgrade later.

MacBook Air (M4)Check first

The previous-generation Air, which can be a good value as stock clears.

Check before buying: Check you're buying the chip and configuration you want, and the seller.

MacBook Pro 14-inch (M4)Check first

For heavier work such as video editing and development.

Check before buying: Check memory and storage, since they are not upgradable after purchase.

MacBook NeoCheck first

One of Apple's newer, lower-cost laptops.

Check before buying: Check the specs and exact configuration on the listing.

Mac mini (M4)Check first

A small desktop Mac you pair with your own monitor and keyboard.

Check before buying: It doesn't include a display, keyboard or mouse. Check memory and storage.

Apple TV 4KHard to get wrong

Apple's streaming box for a TV.

Check before buying: Check the storage and Ethernet options on the listing.

iPhone

iPhone pricing on Amazon is often tied to carriers or activation deals, so a low price can come with conditions. Look for the unlocked version unless you want a carrier contract.

iPhone 17Check first

The standard iPhone for most people.

Check before buying: Check unlocked vs carrier-locked and the storage tier.

iPhone 17 ProCheck first

For people who want the stronger camera and chip.

Check before buying: Unlocked or carrier? Check storage and colour.

iPhone AirCheck first

The thinnest iPhone, aimed at design-focused buyers.

Check before buying: Check battery expectations and unlocked vs carrier-locked.

Should you wait for a sale?

It depends on the product and on how much a discount would save. A big-ticket Mac or iPad is worth waiting on when the price isn't already near its past low, and Amazon's own Black Friday event runs from late November (see our Black Friday 2026 plan). But for something you need now, a small difference isn't worth weeks of waiting. Check the price history: if today's price is at or near the lowest it has been, buy. If not, set an alert. We never predict future prices, because nobody can.

Frequently asked questions

When are Apple products cheapest on Amazon?

Prices vary through the year, and sale events such as Black Friday are a common time for discounts. Check each product's price history to see its past low rather than relying on timing.

Are Apple discounts on Amazon real?

Often, but not always. Check the price history to see whether the 'deal' price is actually lower than it has been recently.

Should I buy the previous-generation model?

If it does everything you need, it can be a better value, especially when stock is being cleared. Compare the features and the price history of both.

Is it safe to buy Apple products from third-party sellers on Amazon?

Prefer items sold and shipped by Amazon or an authorised seller. For expensive items, check the seller rating and return policy.

Does Apple price-match Amazon?

Apple's policies change and vary. Check Apple's current terms before relying on a price match.

Are Renewed Apple products worth it?

They can be, but read the grade and return terms carefully. See our guide to Warehouse, Outlet and Renewed.

How do I know if an iPhone is unlocked?

The listing should say 'unlocked'. Carrier-locked listings often have a low price tied to a plan.

Does Zroppix earn commission from these links?

Yes. Amazon links here carry our Associates tag and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't change what we recommend.

Buy Apple at a fair price

Confirm the version, check the history, then buy. If it isn't at a fair price yet, set an alert and let it come to you.

How we put this guide together. This is a buying guide, not a lab review. We have not tested these products. The notes come from general product knowledge and what a buyer should confirm on the listing. Apple's own Black Friday events are mentioned from past years; check Apple's site for this year's details. We don't print prices because they change daily, and the price-history pages we link are separate pages on this site. We make Zroppix, the price-history extension we recommend. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
